Sven is member of Prof. Jägers team at the Institute for Product and Service Engineering (IPSE), University of Furtwangen, Germany, where Prof. Jäger heads the Powertrain and Machine Validation Laboratory.

The methodological Top-Down System Validation Framework applied by the group around Prof. Jäger systematically integrates physical and virtual testing across different abstraction levels, from single components to full systems, tailored to the demands of modern, simulation-driven product development.

The group runs a newly established powertrain test lab equipped with powerful drivetrain and gear test rigs including battery emulation.

Research methods in the virtual domain include dynamic analyses (FEA and MBS), multi-domain system simulation (1D), linear/non-linear structural-mechanical analyses (FEA), acoustic simulation (coupled 1D & 3D), topology optimization.

The physical validation environment comprises, amongst others, powertrain & Gear test rigs, utilization of XiL and closed-loop methods, design of Experiments (DoE), sensors and measurement microphones (brake emissions testing rig is planned).

Potential ideas are R&D on cognitive machines, digital twins, AI driven human machine interaction and modern product development.  The group is also interested in contributing to development, simulation, and experimental validation within battery and hydrogen-powered machinery, as well as, non exhaust emissions in road and rail transport. Contributing to the coordination of work packages is also welcome.
