Academy - Module 4 - Sustainability and ESG strategy in start-ups

This module aims to describe the key elements related to sustainability and their growing relevance for venture capital funds and startups. In particular, the session will provide an overview of the evolving regulatory landscape and explore the factors that alternative fund managers integrate into the different phases of their investment strategy, including:

• selection of portfolio companies;

• implementation and monitoring of ESG strategies;

• exit options.

From an operational perspective, the session will illustrate how these elements concretely affect the interaction between startups and investors—from information requirements and the structuring of materials to alignment with fund policies and expectations.
