About

Agrobit S.r.l. is an innovative Italian agtech SME, headquartered in Florence, that develops artificial intelligence and computer vision solutions for precision agriculture. It was founded in 2022 as a joint venture between DroneBee, a drone remote sensing firm, and Agricolus, a developer of precision farming decision support systems; its team has been carrying out agronomic drone surveys since 2016. CRIF S.p.A. joined the shareholder base in 2022 through the G-Factor accelerator.

Agrobit’s mission is to help farmers and agronomists achieve environmental, social and economic resilience by optimising agronomic practices and reducing water and chemical inputs, through image-based decision support systems (DSS), digital twins, AI and computer vision. Its vision is to make precision and digital agriculture accessible to every farmer, including small farms.

The company offers an integrated ecosystem with a single point of contact: three imaging solutions that cover crop sensing from the smartphone, the tractor and the drone, plus sensors, software, field services and training. Customers include farms, cooperatives, agronomists and contractors, agrochemical and agri-food companies, research bodies and public administrations, with a focus on vineyards, olive groves and stone fruit.

iAgro is a mobile DSS app for Android and iOS that turns a smartphone into a 3D scanner for tree crops, with no additional hardware. Geotagged photos are processed into a digital twin of the canopy to measure height, width, volume, LAI, leaf wall area and tree row volume. The app generates vigour maps and variable-rate prescription maps that set the spray volume per zone within label doses, saving up to 50% of water per treatment. It also provides hyper-local weather forecasts with spraying windows, over 250 predictive models for diseases and pests with risk indices up to 7 days ahead, AI disease recognition from photos, Sentinel-2 vegetation index maps with up to 2 years of history, soil data, and fruit counting and sizing with yield maps. Maps can be exported to ISOBUS/VRT terminals and farm management systems, or accessed via API. iAgro supports most tree crops, including grapevine, olive, pome and stone fruit, citrus, nuts and tropical crops, and is offered through annual plans starting from a free tier.

iTractor uses bifacial stereoscopic cameras with on-board AI, mounted plug-and-play on tractors or quads, to collect images during routine field operations. It counts fruits and bunches, measures vigour, detects leaf anomalies and diseases, and produces georeferenced yield maps, providing yield estimates 2-3 months before harvest. It can drive ISOBUS sprayers for variable-rate spraying. Supported crops include grapevine, apple, pear, peach, blueberry, avocado and mango.

iDrone is a drone survey service run by ENAC-certified pilots across Italy, from single trial plots to areas of hundreds of hectares. Using RGB, multispectral and thermal sensors, it maps vigour (NDVI, NDRE), water stress (CWSI), plant counts and missing plants, leaf anomalies, diseased plants and weeds. Maps are delivered in GIS formats with an agronomic report and can be turned into prescription maps for fertilisation, selective harvesting, seeding and irrigation. With a partner operator, Agrobit also offers aerial application of fertilisers, seeds and beneficial insects.

Agrobit provides R&D and consulting services: drone-based field trials and phenotyping for agrochemical companies, contract research organisations and seed companies, development and validation of algorithms and custom DSS, and analysis of third-party drone and satellite imagery. As an Agriculture 4.0 reseller it supplies DJI and XAG drones, multispectral and thermal sensors, weather stations, soil sensors, smart traps and software such as Agricolus and Pix4D, while Agrobit Academy delivers training on precision and digital agriculture.

Agrobit has led or taken part in regional and European projects such as iVine (Tuscany RDP, a digital twin of the vineyard, as lead partner), iOlive (EIT Food Test Farms), and AgroTwin, VineScale and SmartCherry (open calls of the Horizon Europe projects ICAERUS, CHAMELEON and OpenAgri), and it is prime contractor of an ESA Kick-Start activity (SAT2LEAF). It works with the Universities of Florence, Bari, Ferrara and Turin, CNR-IBE and CREA. The decision support method behind iAgro is patent pending in Italy, with a European extension requested, and selected modules have been released as open source.

Awards include the Premio Innovazione Toscana 2023 (first place, innovative start-ups), the Technology Innovation Award at Enovitis in Campo 2024, a EUSPA CASSINI Challenges prize (2025), the Premio Innovazione Legambiente 2025 and the Premio Innovazione Fieragricola 2026 with a Green Innovation mention for iAgro, which is also profiled in the FAO Digital Agriculture observatory. Agrobit’s work contributes to UN SDGs 2, 9 and 12.
