The Problem: Conditioning air in bulk is energy intensive (100’s kWh/m2/year) and takes time, yet subjective user experiences and behaviours are not understood, so the thermal utility of bulk air conditioning, and the energy vectors that supply this, are prone to being deeply inefficient.
Legacy user interfaces are thermostatic by design, objectively conditioning air, and often across large volumes. These interfaces condition user behaviours (by the experience they deliver) and impact energy demand and user wellbeing, especially where the outcomes are liable to cognitive heuristics during decision-making, and the capabilities enabled by the technology (the interface).
Our Solution: EluxEvo are developing groundbreaking and patent-pending user interfaces and user experiences with hardware that combine heating and cooling vectors, lighting, sensors, and machine learning software, to enhance user comfort and wellbeing, energy and carbon efficiency.
EluxEvo empowers user agency through intuitive user interfaces that reduce complexity, and machine learning to produce behaviours that improve comfort, wellbeing and energy efficiency, and reduce carbon and cost.
We have a proven track record of winning Innovate UK grants and established collaboration on projects with several UK universities and support by technology catapults and other institutions, such as the National Physics Laboratory, the British Standards Institute and Alan Turing Institute.
