Fondazione Toscana Life Sciences (TLS) is a nonprofit organization supporting research, business creation and training activities for the innovative development of the life sciences and healthcare systems. TLS is engaged in its own research activities, technology transfer, business incubation and it plays the role of aggregator and facilitator of the Tuscan innovation ecosystem in the various fields of life sciences, at the center of a network of public-private partnerships active at the regional, national and international level. Starting from 2007, TLS has created 702 jobs (including employees both from TLS and and Bioincubator) and provided services and lab spaces to 52 among spin-offs, start-ups, mature companies and research groups in the Biotech, Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices, Robotics, Healthcare ICT services sectors. Since 2007 the incubated and affiliated companies, as well as the research groups hosted by TLS, have signed a total of 581 agreements, collaborations, and licenses. TLS is involved in an increasing number of research projects aimed at responding to major health challenges such as bacterial resistance to antibiotics or orphan diseases, as well as at investigating the mechanisms of progression and regression of leukemia and blood cancers or the effectiveness of the application of vaccines to immuno-oncology. The bioincubator of the Fondazione TLS provides technological facilities, research services, support in business development and consulting on intellectual property and technology transfer.
