Founded in 1995 and operational since 1996, the Vlaams Instituut voor Biotechnologie (VIB) in Flanders, Belgium, stands as a testament to the Flemish government's commitment to advancing life sciences research. As a prominent member of EU-LIFE, VIB is dedicated to fostering excellence in the field of life sciences and leveraging research outcomes for economic growth.. VIB's research is centered around understanding both normal and pathological cellular and organismal processes. This research spans humans, plants, and microorganisms. Unique to VIB's approach, researchers are integrated into existing departments across six Flemish universities (Ghent University, KU Leuven, University of Antwerp, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, IMEC, and Hasselt University), fostering collaboration and innovation.
