Independo is a software company dedicated to making the text-based digital world accessible for individuals who rely on symbol-based communication — including people with learning difficulties, dementia, autism, or acquired brain injuries. We are developing AI that can translate between text and symbols, unlocking seamless two-way interaction with digital services. Our suite of applications — starting with a calendar that connects to services like Google Calendar — enables users to independently manage their schedules, while helping us improve our translation engine for broader use. Our long-term vision is to empower the over 240 million people currently excluded from the digital world to independently engage with the services and tools most of us use every day — whether that’s booking a train ticket, ordering food, or simply managing daily routines — using just a few symbols. By removing the language barrier created by text, we open up the full potential of digital participation.
