About me
👨🏫 Even though I studied Economics (which was and still is one of my favourite fields to explore) I became a middle school teacher. Through the organisation Teach For Austria I started to work at a middle school where the kids who attended were not among the most privileged. After my first year, I became a class teacher (Klassenvorstand). Because of teaching being the most fun, rewarding, amazing, challenging, tiring and awesome job I ever did I continued for four years.
💻 In 2019 I founded an eduation/school blog and Podcast. Two wonderful teacher colleagues and I didn't like the negative, destructive kind of debate around education. So we gave all those people a voice, that worked at schools daily. And, founded the biggest education blog and later podcast in Austria.
🧳Over the last couple of years we organised trips to partner organisations of the Teach For All network! We explored the education systems of 🇪🇸 - 🇮🇱 - 🇬🇧 and 🇪🇪. I love doing such trips as they're broadening your horizon immensely. And, it shows you what's possible.
💚 After 4 years of teaching, I switched into politics, became a politician and my party's spokesperson for education. That means, I am a member of Vienna's State Parliament, member of the education committee and deal with educational topics from Kindergarten to Uni.
👨🏫 But, since September 2022 I am teaching again. In a middle school in Vienna. It's wonderful!
👨🎓 And, I did a MA in "Comparative Education" at the wonderful Institute of Education at UCL. In my Master thesis I tackled a question that we discussed endlessly at school and with colleagues: Why is there no Comprehensive Education in Austria?
So, I work as a teacher, founded an education blog/podcast, did my MA in education and am now in education-politics. Woah, lots of "Education" going on. But.
🎿🏃♂️ I also love the mountains, all kinds of sports there. Generally, sports. And, reading! Theatre is also fun. And Spikeball. Yeah, I think that's all now 📚
