About me

James Boakes is a Senior Alternative Sustainable Investment Analyst at Mercer Alternatives based in Zürich. He joined Mercer in January 2023 and works predominantly on the management of their impact strategy, assisting with research and due diligence efforts focused on a broad range of private market investments. Mr. Boakes has been in the impact investing industry since 2021.

Previously, Mr. Boakes interned at the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative, where he focused on developing impact investment tools for banks and asset managers. Prior to that, Mr. Boakes interned at Scope as a mutual fund analyst.

Mr. Boakes holds an MSc in Economics and Policy of Energy and the Environment from University College London and a BSc in International Management and German from the University of Bath. He is fluent in English and German.
