Ignition module and a spark plug
Deputy Director for Business Development at Dnipro Aerospace
Dnipro, Ukraine
About
The ignition module is single-channel and generates low-frequency pulse voltage to the spark plug. The main characteristics are:
-
Nominal voltage: 28 V
-
Nominal current consumption: < 1.5 A
-
Input voltage range: 14 V to 30 V
-
Output voltage: 2.5 kV to 3 kV
-
Output energy: > 0.6 J
-
Discharge frequency at 14 V: 3 Hz to 6 Hz
-
Discharge frequency at 30 V: 4 Hz to 7 Hz
The type of spark plug is not strictly specified. A preliminary review of existing options indicates high efficiency when using shunted surface-discharge spark plugs (surface-gap spark plugs / erosion-type plugs). Therefore, we'd like to obtain initial information on:
-
Feasibility of manufacturing a surface-discharge spark plug with operating conditions that match the parameters of the ignition module given above;
-
Feasibility of using alternative spark plug options (simplified or off-the-shelf standard).
