In vitro safety and efficacy testing for finished cosmetics and substance-based medical devices

We test finished cosmetics and substance-based medical devices for the companies that develop them. On the safety side: in vitro skin irritation according to OECD TG 439 on reconstructed human epidermis, cytotoxicity and sensitisation, skin absorption, in vivo patch test, microbiological challenge and stability, delivered in the form the safety assessor expects in the dossier. On the efficacy side we measure the effect being claimed, from anti-age and soothing to hydration and barrier, brightening, anti-acne, antioxidant, microbiome and photoprotection. For substance-based medical devices we work on 3D mucosal models with their own vocabulary: barrier effect, mucoadhesion and retention measured as adhesion force, mucolytic action, cytoprotection, hydration and lubrication with friction measurement, plus biocompatibility along the full ISO 10993 series. Skin, mucosal and ingested devices are all covered.
