Validation and testing of nutraceutical ingredients and finished supplements

We validate nutraceutical ingredients and finished supplements in vitro, working area by area rather than running a fixed panel: for each physiological area we define the endpoints that correspond to the mechanism being claimed, then measure them. The twelve areas we cover are gastrointestinal, metabolic and cardiovascular, dermatological, neurological, musculoskeletal, respiratory, urological, immune system, oral, vaginal, livestock and pet. Typical work includes bioaccessibility and stability along simulated digestion, cell-based assays on the relevant tissue model, microbiological work on strains and microbiota, and analytical characterisation of the ingredient itself. The output is a dossier written in the form the regulatory or marketing team needs, with the assay behind each figure stated explicitly. Laboratory and production sit on the same site, so a validated ingredient can move to pilot scale without changing supplier.
