University of Louvain

UCLouvain is Belgium’s largest French-speaking university and one of Europe’s oldest universities, founded in 1425. It is a comprehensive, research-intensive institution with approximately 40,000 students, including 19% international students, and more than 3,600 researchers.

The university conducts around 2,500 research projects each year across science and technology, health sciences, and the humanities and social sciences. Its annual research activity represents approximately €370 million, including €250 million from external funding. UCLouvain has secured 68 European Research Council grants and has extensive experience in European and international collaborative research programmes.

Through its eight campuses, research institutes, technology platforms, university hospitals, science parks and business incubators, UCLouvain supports interdisciplinary research and the transfer of scientific results to industry and society. Its expertise ranges from fundamental research to the development, testing and validation of innovative technologies in collaboration with academic and industrial partners.

Its ICTEAM institute conducts interdisciplinary research in information technology, electronics and applied mathematics. Within ICTEAM, the INGI division brings together around 100 people working in computing science and engineering, including AI, computer systems and networks.
