About the Organisation

The National Centre for Cartography (CNC) is a public institution subordinated to the Romanian National Agency for Cadaster and Land Registration (ANCPI), responsible for the official map of Romania.

CNC ensures the national geospatial data infrastructure, providing the reference data integrated into the Romanian INIS Geoportal. Backed by over six decades of professional experience, CNC blends institutional tradition with innovation to achieve its institutional goals and generate a direct public benefit for the entire community.

Technical Competences & Focus Areas

Through its expertise in geodesy, cartography, photogrammetry, GIS, and gravimetry, CNC ensures the national geospatial data infrastructure for the INIS Geoportal of Romania, with the following core responsibilities:

• creating and updating the official maps of Romania ;

• designing, executing, and maintaining national geodetic and leveling networks;

• obtaining cartographic products of any type through photogrammetric methods;

• conducting applied research activities in the fields of geodesy, photogrammetry, GIS, and cartography.

Cooperation Profile for Horizon Europe

In the context of Cluster 4 (Digital, Industry, and Space), CNC aims to join European initiatives and consortia as an institutional partner capable of providing verified national reference data and domain expertise.

While the Centre possesses extensive experience in its core disciplines, expanding institutional capabilities into advanced Remote Sensing and Earth Observation analytics is a primary strategic development path.

CNC offers solid technical foundations and research capacity for collaborative projects focused on geospatial data integration, digital twins, and public sector data solutions.
