AquaValor - Centre for the Development and Transfer of Water Technology (CoLAB)

AquaValor is a Portuguese private non-profit association that acts as a thematic and multifunctional interface infrastructure, supporting the development and transfer of knowledge, technologies and innovative solutions in the field of health and wellbeing. Its activities focus particularly on the valorisation of water, especially thermal and natural mineral waters, as a distinctive resource with potential applications in prevention, health promotion, healthy ageing and wellbeing.

In the health area, AquaValor combines research and innovation, specialised scientific and technological services, technology transfer and advanced training, promoting collaboration between research organisations, healthcare stakeholders, companies and public entities. Its activities include the study of the biological and therapeutic potential of thermal waters, microbiological and molecular characterisation, the development and validation of health-related products and solutions, and the application of digital technologies and data-driven approaches to health and wellbeing.

AquaValor also seeks to strengthen the translation of scientific knowledge into practical applications, supporting the development of new products, services and intervention approaches with potential use in areas such as thermal health, healthy ageing, preventive health, personalised approaches, oral health and wellbeing, while contributing to the qualification of highly specialised human resources and to the creation of new opportunities for innovation in the health sector.
