Operating four oil refineries with a total of 30 million tons annual crude oil processing capacity, Tüpraş is the first producer in Turkey’s refining sector and largest industrial enterprise of the country with its subsidiary in sea transportation, Ditaş, its subsidiary in railway transportation, KUAŞ (Körfez Ulaştırma A.Ş.) and affiliate in fuel oil distribution sector, Opet. Tüpraş also owns the shares of Tüpraş Trading and Entek. 49% of its shares are traded in Istanbul Stock Exchange. Tüpraş, Europe's 7th largest refining company, serves as an integrated oil company with both market share and corporate reliability as well as production complexes and partnerships. As the pioneer of energy sector in Turkey since its inception, Tüpraş announced its “Strategic Transition Plan” aimed at leading the future of the energy sector within the scope of carbon transformation program initiated by its mother company, Koç Holding. Tüpraş is committed to reduce the carbon emissions from its activities by 27% compared to its 2017 levels and to become carbon neutral by 2050. This strategic transformation investment plan is built on 4 main pillars: Sustainable refining, Zero carbon electricity, Biofuels and Green hydrogen. Established in 2010 and officially certified by the Ministry of Industry & Technology of Turkey, Tüpraş R&D Center drives the innovative transformation of Tüpraş. The Center provides solutions for the sustainability and competitiveness of Tüpraş refineries, also supports Tüpraş in its strategic transformation plan through national & international R&D projects. Tüpraş is one of leader companies in Turkey in terms of international collaborations with 17 Horizon 2020 projects and 7 Horizon Europe projects. Below table shows the projects of Tüpraş that are funded by Europen Union. Tupras actively participates in shaping the EU's roadmap for research and innovation and is a member of A. SPIRE (Processes4Planet), Hydrogen Europe and Water Europe.
