About me
Marie is the head of research and development at HUID, a company developing next generation packaging solutions from onion waste, based in Oban. She draws on her product development experience in pharmaceuticals to progress HUID’s vision. She also holds a PhD in biochemistry from the Universities of Durham and Edinburgh, during which she gained extensive experience on biopolymer characterization and functions. She is currently working on upscaling the production of HUID’s first product, an onion skin-based moulded fibre punnet box for fresh produce packaging. Moreover, she is driving technical innovation on the company’s most ambitious project, a transparent film with food shelf-life extension properties.
