Hydromize by GreenTrax is the all-in-one digital platform for RFNBO certification of renewable hydrogen and its derivatives. Hydromize is part of GT Emission Solutions GmbH, based in Kleve, Germany. Since 2019, GreenTrax has worked in greenhouse gas quotas (THG-Quoten) for electric mobility, charging power and green hydrogen. Hydromize brings this regulatory and market know-how into a software-supported service for hydrogen producers, traders and distributors.

The challenge

Renewable hydrogen is central to decarbonising industry and transport in Europe. Certifying it is not simple. RFNBO certification requires strict adherence to the criteria of the Renewable Energy Directive (RED III), coordination across many stakeholders and a mandatory 70 percent GHG saving threshold. Proof-of-Sustainability (PoS) documents are often managed by hand, which is slow and error-prone.

Our answer

Hydromize combines AI-supported software with practical certification experience. The platform is built around three core pillars:

1. RFNBO certification support: End-to-end guidance, from choosing the certification scheme and certifier through audit preparation and initial certification to re-certification.

2. Digital PoS management: Automated creation, management and transfer of tamper-proof, audit-ready Proof-of-Sustainability documents, compatible with all EU-recognised certification bodies.

3. GHG quota trading: With a valid RFNBO certificate and PoS documents, producers can generate GHG quota revenues via the distributors of their hydrogen. Hydromize also supports brokerage and matching.

Hydromize is compatible with all certification schemes, including ISCC EU, REDcert EU and CertifHy EU. Modules can be booked on their own or together with full advisory support.

How it works

1. Initial analysis: We review your situation and specific needs together.

2. Digital twin: Your production and supply chain data is used to build the digital twin. This is the prerequisite for certification support, audits and PoS management.

3. Certification: You choose the certification system and certifier. We prepare the documents together with you and the auditor. The initial certification includes an on-site inspection and a document review by accredited auditors. The certificate is usually valid for one year.

4. Surveillance and re-certification: A surveillance audit takes place after six months, when the fuels and energy carriers already produced and declared as RFNBO are reviewed. Re-certification is carried out by an external auditor before the existing certificate expires.

5. PoS management: Once certified, PoS documents are generated and managed in the platform. They confirm the sustainable properties of the volumes and state the respective GHG intensities.

6. GHG quota trading: Certified volumes can be used to generate GHG quota revenues via hydrogen distributors.

Certified RFNBO hydrogen also opens access to government-funded tenders such as H2Global, long-term offtake agreements with industrial buyers, subsidies and grants, and EU export markets.
