About me
Ivan Aleksi, born on 15 September 1982, received his PhD in June 2013 from the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology (FERIT) in Osijek. His PhD degree was in the field of sonar signal and image processing, in the CPU/GPU parallel implementations of the sonar signal processing and the beamforming. Since February 2007, he has been working as a teaching and research assistant at FERIT in Osijek. He has done some research work in the area of vehicle routing problems and the problem of step sequence planning for biped walking robots. Since August 2010, he has been a research associate at the Institute of Water-Acoustics, Sonar-Engineering, and Signal-Theory (IWSS) at Hochschule Bremen.
Ivan Aleksi, PhD, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Technology in Osijek, Croatia, specializes in real-time signal processing, computer vision, high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, deep neural networks, and the Internet of Things (IoT). He has significantly contributed to several scientific projects, including the development of expert systems for intelligent agriculture, autonomous robots for orchards, and smart sensors for supply chain management. His research emphasizes applying advanced AI techniques and IoT technologies to address practical agriculture, manufacturing, and environmental monitoring challenges. He has authored numerous high-impact journal papers, presenting innovative approaches for energy-efficient embedded systems, remote monitoring using deep neural networks, and image segmentation algorithms. His involvement in the Smart Sticker project, which focuses on ultra-low-power shock detection in supply chains, exemplifies his dedication to merging AI with IoT for industrial solutions.
In addition to his research, he is deeply involved in academic mentoring, curriculum development, and leading laboratory exercises, fostering academic growth among his students and the broader scientific community. His international collaborations, particularly through multiple ERASMUS programs, highlight his sonar engineering and signal processing work.
