Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek (FERIT)

FERIT is a modern higher education and research institution within Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Croatia, and a regional leader in electrical engineering, computer science and information and communication technologies. Located in one of Croatia’s fastest-growing IT regions, the Faculty works closely with industry, the public sector and the local community, with a strong focus on research excellence, knowledge and technology transfer, and entrepreneurship.

Education

FERIT offers study programmes at all three levels of higher education:

• Undergraduate university studies in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, and in Computer Science

• Undergraduate professional studies in Electrical Engineering (Power Engineering, Automation) and Computer Science

• Graduate university studies in Electrical Engineering (Power Engineering, Communications and Informatics, Industrial Systems Automation) and Computer Science (Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Software Engineering, Data Science)

• Graduate university study in Automotive Computing and Communications (AutoCom), taught in English

• Postgraduate doctoral and specialist studies

Programmes are regularly updated in line with scientific advances and labour market needs, and students gain practical experience through internships and industry-based theses.

Research

FERIT’s ten research groups have led or participated in numerous national and European projects, including Horizon 2020/Horizon Europe, EuroHPC, Erasmus+, Interreg and ESF+. Research areas include:

• Artificial intelligence, intelligent systems and robotics

• High-performance computing and data analytics (FERIT is part of the national EuroCC competence centre)

• Human-computer interaction and language technologies

• Computer engineering and embedded systems

• Advanced industrial systems and automation

• Power systems, smart grids and renewable energy

• Information and communication technologies

• Intelligent and autonomous vehicles

• Biomedical engineering

• Advanced teaching methods in engineering education

The Faculty hosts a Centre for Artificial Intelligence and the MikroTik Academy, organises international conferences, and is building a new Scientific Research Centre for Electrical Engineering and Computing with 55 research laboratories.

Cooperation

FERIT collaborates with leading electrical engineering and ICT companies through applied research, development projects, studies and expert services. We are looking for partners from academia, industry and the public sector for joint EU-funded projects, R&D cooperation, staff and student mobility, and technology transfer.
