Looking for cooperation for improving grassland management
About
In Wallonia, 50% of agricultural land consists of grassland, a veritable carbon sink. Our Research Center, located in the heart of the Ardenne region, has long-standing expertise in forage production and several experimental plots. We also have a number of farming partners concerned about the future of their livestock, with whom we regularly carry out experiments and monitor production. The forage autonomy of this type of farm is a necessity for their subsistence and to limit the environmental impact of the destruction of grasslands. We would like to set up a project to promote and boost this sector, particularly in the so-called “cold” regions of Europe, which are often neglected by basic research even though they account for a significant proportion of forage production.
