The Albanian Disability Rights Foundation (ADRF) is a non-profit, cross-disability organization established in 1996, with more than 30 years of experience in promoting and protecting the rights, equal opportunities, inclusion and full participation of persons with disabilities in Albania. ADRF works at national and local levels to translate human rights standards into effective policies, accessible services and practical opportunities for persons with disabilities and their families. Its main areas of intervention include advocacy and policy development; monitoring the implementation of disability legislation and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; access to justice and free legal aid; equality and non-discrimination; accessibility; inclusive employment and supported employment services; vocational education and training; independent and community-based living; provision of wheelchairs and mobility support; research, awareness raising and capacity building. ADRF works directly with persons with disabilities and their representative organizations, while maintaining strong cooperation with central and local government institutions, employment services, justice institutions, employers, civil society organizations and international partners. Through research, policy dialogue, advocacy, training, legal assistance, strategic cases and innovative service models, ADRF contributes to strengthening institutional capacities and improving the implementation of disability rights in practice. Over the years, ADRF has developed significant expertise in linking policy reform with direct service provision, ensuring that evidence and experience from persons with disabilities inform legislation, public policies and services. The organization is particularly experienced in supported employment, access to justice and free legal aid, accessibility, anti-discrimination and the empowerment of persons with disabilities to claim their rights and participate actively in decision-making processes.
