WAI Water Intelligence Technologies

WAI Water Intelligence is a Finnish startup developing accessible water quality monitoring through portable nutrient measurement hardware, a mobile app and cloud-based data services.

Our system is being developed to help farmers, forestry and aquaculture operators, researchers, authorities and environmental organisations collect data closer to pollution sources. By linking measurements with location, weather and land management data, we aim to identify pollution hotspots, understand environmental changes and support informed action.

We are testing the system with partners in Finland and Belgium across agricultural catchments, wetlands and nature-based solution projects.

For Horizon Europe consortia, we offer a technology partner that can work with researchers and practitioners to customise monitoring solutions for Living Labs and demonstration sites. Together, we can adapt measurement workflows, data collection and visualisation to the project’s research questions, local conditions and participants.

Our platform can provide a shared foundation for monitoring across sites: a place to collect water measurements, add field observations and contextual data, and develop connections to complementary sensors and external datasets. This would help partners bring their data together, compare observations across locations and track changes during restoration activities.

Our founding team brings 25 years of experience building digital companies and designing services and products, alongside in-house software and hardware development. We can contribute to both technology development and the practical work of making monitoring tools useful in the field.

We are particularly interested in ecosystem restoration, water resilience, nutrient monitoring and nature-based solutions. We welcome collaboration with consortium coordinators, research teams, public authorities and complementary startups to build environmental intelligence – from source to sea.
