darwingeospatial.com/?lang=enMadrid, SpainAbout
Darwin Geospatial is a Madrid-based geospatial AI company that turns Earth observation data into decision-ready information for nature, biodiversity and land management. We fine-tune Earth observation foundation models (Prithvi-EO) on Sentinel-2 time series and run them at scale on Google Cloud and Earth Engine.
Our work covers habitat mapping and monitoring (including Natura 2000 grassland segmentation and European-scale habitat mapping across Spain, France, Italy and Germany), forest habitat distribution and connectivity, wetland and high-altitude ecosystem monitoring, soil degradation and land-degradation forecasting, and water quality for aquaculture. We also build agentic AI systems (GeoNatureAgent, Darwin Maps) that let non-specialists query and analyse geospatial data in plain language.
We collaborate with NASA, ESA and academic partners including Johns Hopkins University and the Catholic University of Ávila (UCAV), and our soil degradation work has received NASA and Comunidad de Madrid awards. We publish our methods in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
In Horizon Europe Nature calls we can contribute as the Earth observation and AI technology partner: habitat and ecosystem condition mapping, change detection and early warning, restoration monitoring and reporting, uncertainty-aware indicators, and scalable, open pipelines that transfer across regions. We are looking for consortia led by research institutions, public authorities, NGOs and land managers working on biodiversity, restoration, nature-based solutions and EU Nature Restoration Law implementation.
