About

Hydrosat is a pioneering thermal intelligence and climate-tech company operating at the convergence of aerospace engineering, advanced remote sensing, and artificial intelligence. Headquartered in Luxembourg, with operational hubs in both the United States and the Netherlands, our primary objective is to map the Earth’s thermal signatures to solve some of humanity’s most pressing challenges: escalating food insecurity, extreme water scarcity, and climate change.

Historically, tracking environmental changes and crop performance relied heavily on visible spectrum imagery. However, optical imagery behaves as a lagging indicator—by the time a crop shows visible color or density alterations, severe environmental stress has already occurred. Hydrosat fills this critical information gap by collecting Land Surface Temperature (LST) data. Thermal indicators act as a leading metric, predicting crop water stress and drought anomalies one to two weeks before they manifest visually, granting resource managers a decisive head start.

Advanced Satellite Constellation & Technology

The foundation of Hydrosat's intelligence pipeline is its proprietary satellite constellation:

  • The VanZyl Mission Architecture: The company operates its initial orbital assets, VanZyl-1 (launched via SpaceX's Transporter-11 mission in August 2024) and VanZyl-2 (deployed in June 2025). These small satellites fly in Sun-synchronous orbits at an altitude of approximately 510 kilometers.

  • Diurnal Temperature Monitoring: By coordinating separate equatorial overpass times at roughly 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM local solar time, the VanZyl constellation captures essential diurnal temperature shifts. Each spacecraft features specialized imaging payloads that split collection between 9 visible/near-infrared (VNIR) spectral bands and multiple longwave infrared (LWIR) bands.

  • The Next-Generation Osiris Constellation: our upcoming Osiris constellation scales these capabilities even further. Scheduled to begin launches in 2027, Osiris hardware overcomes traditional aerospace trade-offs between spatial detail and field of view. It captures 10-meter native resolution VNIR data alongside ultra-precise 25-meter native resolution LWIR observations. Operating with an exceptionally wide stripmap imaging swath ranging from 160 to 340 kilometers, Osiris will deliver continuous, high-resolution thermal intelligence over vast land and coastal zones, day or night.

AI Analytics & The Commercial Product Suite

Gathering data from orbit is only half of the equation; translating raw thermal imagery into localized, actionable intelligence is where Hydrosat's machine learning algorithms excel.

The company's premier agricultural product line is IrriWatch, a specialized solution acquired and scaled to turn satellite data into exact irrigation schedules. By processing imagery through the sophisticated Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL) mathematical model, IrriWatch calculates precise daily metrics. The tool tracks exactly how much water a field consumes versus how much was applied, mapping metrics at a hyper-local 10-meter resolution across more than 120 crop varieties in 60+ countries. Growers receive a 7-day forward-looking irrigation plan and automated field stress alerts, drastically reducing groundwater extraction while boosting crop yield.

Beyond agricultural management, the company launched its centralized Hydrosat Discovery Portal. This platform grants on-demand access to a repository holding more than 500 million square kilometers of global thermal data. Operating with a calibrated thermal margin of error under 2 Kelvin, the Discovery Portal allows enterprise and research teams to integrate precise heat signatures into their workflow with minimal latency.

Market Validation & Institutional Partnerships

Hydrosat's business expansion and continuous technological rollouts are backed by strong commercial demand and significant financial backing. The firm secured a $60 million Series B funding round led by major energy and deep-tech investors, allowing it to expand its roster of remote-sensing and machine learning PhD experts.

The company's sample major government contracts:

  1. NASA CSDA Program: Awarded to supply Earth science researchers with high-frequency thermal readings.

  2. NOAA SBEM IDIQ: Selected for 10-year environmental monitoring vehicle, cementing its role in long-term climate tracking.

  3. European Space Agency (ESA): Awarded LuxIMPULSE initiative to build a large-scale regional water productivity tool.
