NatureChain is a French SME founded in 2026 and registered in Guadeloupe, an EU outermost region. Our purpose is to get long-term ecological restoration and conservation projects financed by private funders and risk-bearers, on evidence they can trust.
The problem we address
Financing is a major bottleneck for the Nature Restoration Regulation, especially beyond the restoration works. Sites run by NGOs, municipalities or conservation bodies struggle to reach private funders. Application files differ from one funder to the next, baseline and outcome data are rarely comparable, and additionality and permanence remain the core credibility issues of nature credits. Outermost regions host most of the EU’s tropical biodiversity, yet none of the EU nature credit pilots is located there.
What we do
Source restoration and conservation projects and help structure them with site managers and project developers.
Provide one standardised project file that can be reused across funders. It includes a map module built on public geospatial and biodiversity data (IGN, Sentinel-2, GBIF, OpenObs, TAXREF), a budget module, and a dated baseline that shows the protection status of the species present at each location.
Define outcome indicators per ecosystem. These are aligned with the work of the EU Nature Credits expert group and the French framework, and they cover the five direct drivers of biodiversity loss of the Kunming-Montreal framework with territorial weighting (for example, invasive species first on islands).
Keep a registry of projects with a dated evidence log, so that baselines cannot be rewritten and the same outcome is not financed twice. Measurement and verification rely on independent third parties.
Match projects with funders and risk-bearers: companies, banks, insurers and public buyers. This includes coastal ecosystems that protect exposed assets and actions for emblematic threatened species.
French SME working on private co-financing of restoration and nature credits. For an outermost-region Living Lab, we bring local partners in Guadeloupe and Martinique, independent site qualification and private finance work.
