The Institute of Geology and Geochemistry of Combustible Minerals of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (IGGCM NASU) is a research institution within the Division of Earth Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Established in 1951, the Institute has a long-standing tradition of fundamental and applied research in geology and geochemistry.
The Institute brings together expertise in petroleum and coal geology, geological and geochemical palaeoceanography, mineralogy, geochemistry, sedimentology, tectonics, stratigraphy, geoecology and energy-related geotechnologies. Its research also addresses the geochemistry and thermobarometry of mineral-forming fluids and the geological and geochemical characteristics of sedimentary formations and mineral resources.
IGGCM NASU comprises 8 scientific departments and has multidisciplinary scientific expertise in Earth sciences. The Institute participates in national and international scientific cooperation and develops research at the interface of fundamental Earth sciences and applied geological and geochemical studies.
