Baia Mare, RomaniaAbout
The Johannes Banfi Hunyades Multicultural Association is a Romanian non-profit organisation based in Baia Mare, Maramureș, dedicated to interdisciplinary research, cultural heritage, environmental education and sustainable rural development.
Through the OXYZEN Forest Lab initiative, we are developing an innovative approach connecting forest biodiversity, human health, longevity and nature-based solutions.
Our activities focus on forest therapy (Shinrin-Yoku), the potential health benefits of forest environments, environmental monitoring, and the relationship between biodiversity and human well-being.
Our research and demonstration activities are centred in Băiuț, Maramureș, a forest-rich mountain area in Northern Romania, offering opportunities for field studies, environmental monitoring and community engagement.
We aim to develop OXYZEN as a Living Lab for interdisciplinary research, combining environmental sciences, forest ecology, health research, innovative monitoring technologies and sustainable tourism.
We are particularly interested in Horizon Europe Cluster 6 partnerships addressing biodiversity conservation, transformative change, nature-based solutions, ecosystem services and the connection between healthy ecosystems and healthy communities.
We are seeking collaboration with universities, research institutes, environmental organisations, technology providers and European partners interested in developing joint research proposals, pilot activities and demonstration projects.
Our ambition is to contribute to European research by demonstrating how forest ecosystems can support biodiversity, community well-being and sustainable regional development.
