Asociatia Platforma pentru Adaptare Climatica
About
The Platform for Climate Adaptation (APAC) is a Romanian non-governmental organisation working to strengthen climate resilience, protect nature and support meaningful public participation in environmental decisions.
We bring together research, public policy and community action to help turn climate and environmental evidence into practical responses. We connect civil society organisations, researchers, public authorities and residents, with particular attention to people and communities most exposed to climate risks.
Our work focuses on urban climate adaptation, flood preparedness, freshwater, forest protection and biodiversity. We support approaches that address both environmental pressures and social vulnerability, recognising that access to green spaces, protection from extreme heat and reliable information about flood risks are essential to resilient communities.
APAC develops and contributes to policy proposals, environmental investigations, data analysis, public consultations and educational activities. We promote transparency in environmental governance and accessible information that enables citizens to understand risks, participate in decisions and hold institutions accountable.
In cities, our interests include climate shelters, green infrastructure, rainwater management and the protection of urban and peri-urban nature. In flood-prone communities, we focus on risk awareness, preparedness and stronger communication between authorities and residents.
We believe adaptation should be informed by science, shaped with communities and translated into clear institutional responsibilities. Through partnerships in Romania and across Europe, we seek to strengthen local capacity, share practical knowledge and advance policies that protect ecosystems while improving people’s safety and quality of life.
