About

KMOP – Social Action and Innovation Centre is a civil society organisation founded in Greece in 1977, with a permanent presence in Greece, Belgium and North Macedonia and activities across Europe and beyond. KMOP works to improve the wellbeing and quality of life of individuals and communities, with a particular focus on people experiencing vulnerability, inequality and social exclusion.

KMOP combines direct social and psychosocial services, applied research, education and training, policy development, awareness raising and social innovation. Over the years, it has implemented more than 500 initiatives, reaching over 450,000 people, while working closely with public authorities, universities, research organisations, professionals, civil society and communities.

A significant part of KMOP’s work focuses on mental health and psychosocial wellbeing, health and social inequalities, vulnerable populations, community-based support, prevention, education and capacity building. KMOP operates direct mental health and psychosocial services and works with multidisciplinary teams of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and other professionals, providing counselling, psychoeducation, caregiver support and empowerment activities.

KMOP also carries out applied research, develops policy recommendations, designs training programmes and engages citizens, professionals and stakeholders through participatory and community-based approaches. To date, it has developed more than 80 training courses, reaching over 70,000 learners.

Through its combination of research, field implementation, stakeholder engagement and policy work, KMOP contributes to the development of more inclusive, accessible and people-centred social and health-related services and policies.
