The Biology Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences (BCAS) is a public research institution comprising five research institutes. Its research focuses mainly on ecological themes, with a significant emphasis on biomedicine, spanning disciplines from molecular and cellular biology to organismal and ecosystem-level research.
We study insect biodiversity, population trends, drivers of decline, focusing on saproxylic beetles, butterflies, and Hymenoptera. Our expertise includes long-term monitoring, field experiments, species distribution data and advanced statistical analyses.
