Capitals Hub Canada

Capitals Hub Canada (Capitals Coalition Canada) is a Canadian not-for-profit organization, incorporated in 2021, that helps business, finance, and government account for the value of nature and people in their decisions. As the Canadian hub of the global Capitals Coalition network, it promotes the capitals approach, which brings natural, social, human, and produced capital into how organizations measure risk, allocate investment, and report on performance. Its premise is that the economy depends on healthy ecosystems and thriving communities, and that this dependence should be visible in balance sheets, policy frameworks, and capital markets.

The Hub connects Canadian expertise with partners across the Americas, Latin America, and the Caribbean, with a particular focus on turning environmental and social liabilities into investable opportunities. Its work includes developing financial instruments and valuation frameworks for legacy and post-mining landscapes, structuring blended-finance approaches to re-mining, tailings remediation, and responsible mine closure, and advancing biodiversity finance aligned with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. By bringing together regulators, multilateral institutions, industry, engineering partners, and local communities, Capitals Hub Canada helps design solutions that are technically credible, financially viable, and grounded in the realities of the territories where they are applied.

Led by Executive Director Jameson Jones-Doyle, the organization brings together two decades of experience across regulatory, financial, ecological, and cultural systems in Canada and Latin America. Capitals Hub Canada represents Canada in the Global Partnership for Business and Biodiversity and serves as the Secretariat for the Capitals Coalition in the Americas, Latin America, and the Caribbean. It also engages directly in policy dialogue in Ottawa and across the region, working to make sure that the true value of nature and people is recognized, protected, and invested in for the long term.
