The National Institute of Agronomic Research of Tunisia (INRAT) is a public research institution under the Ministry of Agriculture. As the oldest agronomic research institute in Tunisia, INRAT has played a crucial role in modernizing the agricultural sector and agro-systems. In 2017, it was awarded the President of the Republic's prize for best research and innovation institution. INRAT operates seven laboratories in Tunis and five research stations across diverse climatic regions. Its mission includes organizing and conducting research, developing new crop varieties, improving animal breeds, enhancing agricultural production systems, transferring technology, and providing training and advisory services. The institute's expertise covers a wide range of agricultural fields. INRAT's multidisciplinary team comprises agronomists, horticulturists, plant pathologists, breeders, rural economists, and agricultural engineers. With extensive experience in managing international research projects, INRAT participates in European initiatives such as H2020, Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, and PRIMA, ensuring effective project supervision and implementation. Additionally, INRAT engages stakeholders through numerous partnerships, collaborating closely with farmers, cooperatives, industry, NGOs, and policymakers.
