Indicators, scenarios and decision-support tools for biodiversity
Project Manager at CIRCE Centro Tecnológico

About
CIRCE capabilities to NATURE topics:
-
Integrated assessment frameworks. Methodologies connecting environmental characterisation, exposure and effect data with ecological receptors, ecosystem functions and ecosystem services; applicable in particular to PFAS, integrating analytical and ecotoxicological results produced by specialised partners into a single impact assessment framework validated at pilot sites.
-
Indicators, monitoring and dashboards. Identification of key indicators to measure environmental, biodiversity and socio-economic impact, the data collection schemes behind them, and dashboards that make baselines and results usable by practitioners and public authorities rather than leaving them in technical reports.
-
Scenario modelling and decision-support. Simulation and comparison of scenarios to quantify potential impact and assess minimisation or restoration strategies before deployment, together with indicator-based tools that allow the best alternative to be selected.
-
Valuation and socio-economic analysis. Monetisation of biodiversity loss and ecosystem service degradation, territorial resilience indicators, and quantification of the socio-economic effects of tested solutions alongside their environmental performance.
-
Risks, synergies and DNSH compliance. Systematic identification of challenges and risks in each pilot case and of synergies between sites, sectors and measures, together with monitoring of compliance with the Do No Significant Harm framework.
-
Design of minimisation and restoration strategies. Definition of measures to reduce pressures on biodiversity, with comparative evaluation of their effectiveness using pilot data.
