The Romanian Energy Center (CRE) is a non-governmental, sectoral association established in 2011, with offices in Bucharest and Brussels. It operates across the full energy spectrum—electricity, oil and gas, coal, renewable energy, energy equipment, and related services—aiming to support the active involvement of Romanian public and private stakeholders in European partnerships, EU-funded projects, and policy-making processes. CRE also contributes to advancing strategic infrastructure investments and facilitating the transition toward a decarbonized and digitalized energy system.
By strengthening its Research, Development & Innovation (RD&I) capacity with multidisciplinary expertise in energy, economics, CSR, ICT, education systems, and project management, CRE has significantly expanded its role in European-funded initiatives. The organization has been actively involved in Horizon 2020 and ERASMUS+ programmes, with a portfolio of 15 completed and ongoing projects covering areas such as smart grids, energy system flexibility, cybersecurity, digitalization, and cross-border energy markets.
