About

Irish Manufacturing Research is a government sponsored Research Technology Centre initiative that supports the Irish Manufacturing Sector to adopt cutting edge technologies in order to retain a competitive edge in a globalised environment. We work directly with industry partners to de-risk specific elements of emerging technologies.

What we provide:

  • Additive manufacturing for polymer and metal (titanium, aluminium, steel) including robotic arm polymer printing

  • Advanced CNC machining (5 axis, 9 axis, micromachining and swiss machining) and robotic arm CNC machining

  • Advanced Robotics (automation, robotic loading, programming)

  • Metrology suite - microscopy, SEM, CMM, digital scanning

  • Advanced CADCAM design for manufacturing capabilities

  • Finishing capabilities (abrasive flow, blasting, electrochemical polishing)

  • Digitalisation capabilities (PCB printing, advanced software development, hardware software integration)

  • Sustainability and circular economy analysis

  • Grant writing expertise as consortia lead and partner

We de-risk new technology for industry. Due to the novelty of the technology IMR enables industry to address Challenges that no-one has solved before. However, because we are so close to industrial application of these technologies, we have to make sure what we do works, that it is suitable for an established company and it has a reputation and existing production streams to protect.
