ALPhANOV

ALPhANOV is a French technology centre specialised in photonics and laser technologies, dedicated to supporting innovation, industrial development, and technology transfer from research to market. Located in Bordeaux, ALPhANOV operates at the interface between academic research and industry, providing high-level scientific expertise, advanced technological platforms, and applied R&D services.

ALPhANOV’s core mission is to enable companies—ranging from start-ups and SMEs to large industrial groups—to develop, validate, and industrialise photonic and laser-based solutions. Its activities cover the full innovation value chain, from upstream research and proof-of-concept development to pilot-scale demonstrations, process optimisation, and pre-industrial validation.

The centre has recognised expertise in laser–matter interaction, ultrafast and high-power laser processes, optical systems, photonic integration, advanced materials processing, and laser-based manufacturing technologies. These competencies are applied to a wide range of industrial sectors, including aerospace, energy and photovoltaics, microelectronics, advanced manufacturing, health technologies, defence and security, and environmental applications.

ALPhANOV is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and pilot facilities, enabling experimental validation, process development, and scale-up under conditions representative of industrial constraints. Particular emphasis is placed on addressing industrial challenges related to robustness, reproducibility, quality control, and integration into existing production environments.

In addition to its technological activities, ALPhANOV is strongly involved in national and European collaborative R&D programmes. It regularly acts as project partner or work package leader in publicly funded projects, contributing to technical development, system integration, pilot-line support, and technology transfer. ALPhANOV also provides expertise in project structuring, impact definition, and exploitation pathways, ensuring alignment between scientific objectives, industrial needs, and market perspectives.

Through its multidisciplinary teams combining scientific, engineering, and project management skills, ALPhANOV plays a key role in strengthening industrial competitiveness and accelerating the adoption of photonic technologies in Europe.
