State Authority for Geospatial Information

ASIG, serves as Albania's central public institution responsible for implementing the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) in compliance with the EU INSPIRE Directive. As the decision-making, executive, and coordinating body, ASIG oversees the design, construction, maintenance, and updating of the National Geodetic Reference Framework (KRGJSH), sets state standards for GIS interoperability, and manages the National Geoportal for public access to geospatial data. Core Responsibilities:

• Policy Implementation: Execute national geospatial policy across sectors (urban planning, environment, security).

• Data Standardization: Ensure uniform GIS standards aligned with European norms.

• Geoportal Administration: Collect, process, and provide public access to geospatial datasets.

• Capacity Building: Promote training and represent Albania in EuroGeographics and international forums.
