University of Elbasan "Aleksander Xhuvani"

The University of Elbasan “Aleksandër Xhuvani” is a public institution of higher education, established by the Decision of the Council of Ministers no. 414, dated 12.11.1991. The University of Elbasan is a successor of the Higher Pedagogical Institute “Aleksandër Xhuvani” (ILP) established in 1971, which was outlined as a direct successor of the Elbasan Normal School (the first national institution for teacher training in Albania, established in 1909).

This institution is a public legal entity, financed by the State Budget and other legal sources, organized and operates in accordance with Law No. 80/2015 “On higher education and scientific research in higher education institutions in the Republic of Albania”, sub-legal acts and legislation in force. The legal seat of the University of Elbasan “Aleksandër Xhuvani” is the rectorate with the address: “Ismail Zyma” Street, Elbasan
