Enlightra is a European deep-tech photonics company developing integrated optical frequency-comb laser sources for next-generation AI, HPC, and high-performance optical interconnects.

Our core technology is based on silicon nitride (SiN) micro-ring resonator frequency-comb lasers, delivering a single-chip, multi-wavelength coherent light source that replaces arrays of discrete lasers. This approach enables radical reductions in power consumption, footprint, thermal complexity, and cost, while improving wavelength stability and system scalability.

Technology Focus

Enlightra’s comb-laser platform is designed to support:

• ELSFP-CPO (External Laser Small Form-factor Pluggable – Co-Packaged Optics) architectures for AI accelerators and switches

• Scalable multi-channel optical engines (8–64+ wavelengths) in the O-band and C-band

• A technology roadmap that also supports compact Nano-ITLA-class light engines for coherent and advanced modulation systems

Our development targets tight integration with silicon photonics, enabling direct coupling to modulators and photonic ICs, with a strong emphasis on manufacturability, reliability, and volume scalability.

What We Are Looking For (CL4 / Horizon Europe)

For Horizon Europe CL4 collaborative projects, Enlightra is seeking R&D-focused partners to jointly advance the technology from advanced prototype to system-relevant demonstrators, specifically aligned with ELSFP-CPO and adjacent optical engine applications.

We are interested in partnerships with:

• Silicon photonics and PIC designers (modulators, CPO integration, photonic packaging)

• Advanced packaging and heterogeneous integration specialists

• System houses, HPC/AI infrastructure players, and optical module developers

• Research organisations and universities working on photonic integration, thermal management, reliability, or optical system validation

• Pilot-line and manufacturing partners supporting scale-up, test, and qualification

Collaboration Objective

Our goal is to participate in CL4 projects that:

• De-risk and mature comb-laser-based optical engines for AI and data-centre interconnects

• Demonstrate ELSFP-CPO-ready light sources at system-relevant performance levels

• Create technology read-across toward compact Nano-ITLA-style engines

• Strengthen Europe’s position in energy-efficient photonic interconnect technologies

Enlightra brings proprietary IP, device-level know-how, and a clear product roadmap, and is seeking partners who can complement this with system integration, packaging, validation, and industrialisation expertise.
