About

The international IMEC organization boasts more than 5,000 expert scientists, a unique infrastructure that includes a 2.5-billion-euro 300mm semiconductor pilot line, and an ecosystem of more than 600 world-leading industry partners and a global academic network. In the Netherlands, IMEC contributes to new micro-electronical and sensor technology solutions in the fields of health & vitality, photonics, energy & industry. Regarding our activites:

  1. Nanotechnology that’s giving chronic patients back their daily life
At IMEC we are leading the way in developing scalable micro- and nanotechnological building blocks to produce a new generation of therapeutic systems that can diagnose disease processes and treat them autonomously.

  2. Speeding up OoC-development by integrating electronics
By integrating electronics with organ-on-chip-related technologies the development of new medicines, such as those for neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases, can be accelerated. At IMEC we contribute to the OoC-ecosystem with our flexible electronics and large-area manufacturing expertise.

  3. The next step in continuous health monitoring
At IMEC we are researching the use of laser speckle imaging and 140 GHz radar chips for unobtrusive and continuous vital sign monitoring, These promising technologies are invaluable for ambulatory monitoring purposes.

  4. Sensing. Acting. Healing. Revolutionising healthcare using nanoelectronics
At IMEC we combine our extensive expertise in nanoelectronics, sensor technology and data science to develop implantable and insertable medical devices with the potential to revolutionise healthcare. Implantables are miniaturised, wireless, reliable sensor and actuator systems. Each device is customised for specific diagnostics, offering multi-sensor data harvesting with minimum power requirements.
