Ultra-Low Friction Coatings to Enable Precision Motion and Reduced Wear / Friction / Stiction under Extreme Conditions

Postdoctoral Researcher and Commercialisation Lead For SSLiP.eu at Trinity College Dublin

Dublin, Ireland

About

·Design and production of ultra-low-friction / tribological coatings:

  • Currently at TRL 3-4

  • High performance in a range of harsh conditions

  • Approval for in-vivo applications

  • PFAS and fluoropolymer replacement

  • Reduce energy expenditure and wear of components

  • Reduce mechanical losses and wear to improve efficiency, performance, and reliability

  • Enabling extreme repeatability and reduction in ‘stick-slip’ effects

  • Enabling advanced industrial and micro-system designs

  • Supporting robotics, manufacturing, micro-mechanical, and extreme environment applications

·Surface, mechanical, chemical, and tribological characterisation and laboratory-level validation capabilities

· Beyond state-of-the-art performance benchmarking under micromechanical contact conditions through a one-of-a-kind microtribometer

· Iterative optimisation in collaboration with system developers

· Active engagement and expertise in commercialisation and technology transfer efforts
