The Press Club Brussels Europe was founded in 2010 as a joint initiative of the associations of international journalists based in Brussels and the Brussels-Capital Region, with the aim of providing a meeting place for visiting and Brussels-based professional journalists.
Since its opening it has also served as a forum for conferences and debates with journalists, policymakers, diplomats, experts, business leaders and representatives of civil society. Over 4000 events have been held at the Club, totaling more than 150.000 visitors.
The Press Club Brussels Europe can play a key role in project dissemination and communication, offering to European project consortia its services and its unique international network of journalists, media organizations and press clubs.
The Press Club Brussels Europe was elected to the Presidency of the International Association of Press Clubs from June 2018 to March 2022. In that role, the Club established the World Press Clubs Alliance for Climate with over 100 press clubs worldwide, and in October 2020 it organized the 24 Hours for Climate, a unique online event streaming 24 hours non-stop of video reports, interviews, panel debates with innovators, experts, business leaders and policy makers, from press clubs across all time zones, on three simultaneous channels including one dedicated to Europe and one to the Brussels region.
In 2021, the Press Club was accredited by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as an Observer NGO, and it has sent its delegates to the UN Conference on Climate Change every year since COP26 in Glasgow. That same year the Club launched its website climate.brussels, an online platform for communication on all climate-related issues: energy, environment, sustainability, clean technologies, circular economy, just transition, emissions mitigation, climate change adaptation, etc.
At COP28 in Dubai (2023) and COP29 in Baku (2024), the Press Club was selected by the UNFCCC to host an exhibition stand, where we conducted video and audio interviews with over 40 COP delegates.
