About

Within the Convergence cooperation between TU Delft and Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Center for Energy System Intelligence (CESI) has been initiated to facilitate a data-driven approach to the energy transition. The complexity around data-driven approaches has led to long planning times and often settling for sub-optimal solutions for investors and operators. In the Center, we aim to solve this problem using a data-driven approach that provides reliable, accurate, and on-time solutions to challenges related to the energy transition. This can help accelerate the efficient energy transition in a generalizable and comprehensive way.

  • Research and develop a growing toolbox of complex energy system models and methods

  • Create and maintain validated data sets that are safe to use, that uphold privacy principles and that stay accessible over time

  • Connect researchers, industry partners, government and community stakeholders to develop projects with lasting impact in the Netherlands

The research expertise eco-system we have formed and recognized serves as foundation for future collaborations.
