About me
Filipe Marcelo Ferreira Alves holds a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Minho, Portugal. He completed both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biomedical Engineering. He is currently an R&D Engineer at DTx, working in the Data and Application Engineering group. Additionally, as an invited professor at the University of Minho, he lectures on Numerical Methods and Optimization for several Engineering courses. With over 8 years of experience in research and development, Filipe has been actively involved in numerous high-profile funded projects, including EU-H2020-GO0DMAN, EU-MathE, and national projects such as Eurekit Mathematical Games, I4.0@TMAD, and Maintenance 4.0. At DTx, he contributes to the NGS – New Generation Storage project and develops applied research in close collaboration with stakeholders like Aernnova, IKEA, and academic institutions, focusing on advanced software and technological solutions. Filipe has published over 20 peer-reviewed papers and accumulated more than 200 citations (Google Scholar). In 2019, he received a prize from the Promove initiative, recognizing transformative ideas and contributions from his publications, awarded by the La Caixa Foundation. Since 2023, Filipe has also been collaborating with the Research Centre in Digitalization and Intelligent Robotics (CeDRI) at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança. His expertise lies in driving innovation through cutting-edge optimization and intelligent systems, applied in industry and healthcare, with emphasis on scheduling applications, mathematical models and algorithms for decision support.
