About me
I hold a BSc and MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering, a second MSc in Theoretical Physics, and a PhD in Particle Physics and Cosmology.
Since 2022, I have been working at CORE Innovation Centre, a non-profit research organisation and subsidiary of CORE Group, dedicated to fostering an innovative and sustainable industrial ecosystem. Our mission is to empower industries and companies to reach their full potential by making them smarter, greener, and more socially inclusive. Within Industry 4.0, we focus on advancing key enabling technologies such as IoT, big data, AI/ML, edge and cloud computing to maximise the potential of people and organisations across sectors.
I currently lead the Digital Twin Unit, where we develop advanced digital twin solutions across manufacturing, process industries, shipping, and mining. Our activities focus on:
-
Hybrid Digital Twins – combining physics-based models with AI/ML to enable real-time data analysis, behaviour forecasting, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and process optimisation.
-
3D Modelling & Simulation – building realistic virtual replicas of industrial lines and processes using commercial platforms to improve process understanding, identify inefficiencies, and test optimisation scenarios (https://www.core-innovation.com/news/3d-simulation-demo))
-
Autonomous Digital Twins – designing context-aware and adaptive twins powered by reinforcement learning, multi-agent systems, and advanced control architectures to enable autonomous decision-making (https://www.core-innovation.com/news/moses-project-conclusion))
The unit is actively engaged in several Horizon Europe and EIT Manufacturing projects, including: AMBIANCE, Circular TwAIn, Pioneer, Twin4Twin, CARDIMED, METAWAVE, ALCHEMHY, PRIM-ROCK, STREAMSTEP, OPTIMINER, BIOGEMSE, and ORGANIC.
