About

Our Agriculture Faculty's Menemen Research, Application and Production Farm has an area of 700 decares. In our farm, production is carried out in the fields of Crop Production, Animal Production and Agricultural Products Enterprises. In the field of Crop Production: wheat, cotton, clover, vetch, grain corn, second crop silage corn, summer (tomato, pepper, eggplant, melon, watermelon, cucumber, pumpkin, strawberry, gooseberry, potato) and winter vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage). , radish, spinach, leek, celery, lettuce, onion, etc.) are produced. As a medicinal plant; Thyme, lemon balm, sage and echinacea are produced. As fruit; grape (sultana seedless), mandarin, orange, walnut, peach, plum, apricot, pomegranate, olive and pistachio pine. Except for the stone pine harvest, our farm carries out the harvest and post-harvest evaluation of other fruits. The majority of our vegetables and fruits are grown as certified organic.

As an animal being; There are cattle (Black and White Anatolian Pied cattle), sheep (Menemen breed sheep) and pullet chickens, and studies are carried out throughout the year to meet the demands of farmers for breeding animals. In addition, egg poultry farming is carried out and the eggs obtained from the chickens are offered for consumption at our Faculty sales points. There is a fully automatic milking unit where 16 cows can be milked at the same time.
