FerroptoCure, Inc. is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to the development of ferroptosis-inducing, next-generation anti-cancer therapeutics. FerroptoCure was established in May 2022 as a spin-off from Keio University. At the heart of our pipelines is ferroptosis – iron dependent cell death – induced by oxidative stress and is involved in the progression of serious diseases including various cancers; neuro- degenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson's disease; and hepatitis (NASH). At present, FC-004 (former FC-001) is undergoing phase 1b clinical trials for Triple-negative Breast Cancer patients and other cancers under a basket trial paradigm. Within our pre-clinical data set we saw an 85% reduction in tumor size.

 In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the anti-oxidative systems in cancer cells, which help prevent cell death caused by oxidative stress (ferroptosis). These systems significantly contribute to the survival of cancer cells and their resistance to treatment. Our company has developed a novel anti-cancer drug targeting this mechanism. Currently, we have already started the Phase 1 clinical trials mainly targeting triple-negative breast cancer, due to its high unmet need and lack of safe and effective therapies. Through our developmental data, we have confirmed a high anti-tumor effect and safety not only for triple-negative breast cancer but also for various treatment-resistant solid tumors. Furthermore, our approach involves the use of low molecular weight compounds, which eliminates the need for specialized and costly techniques such as cell therapy or antibody drugs. We revealed that xCT and ALDH work together collaboratively to suppress the oxidative stress in cancer cells. As a result, our treatment based on small molecule entities enables safe and effective therapy, providing a more gentle and convenient option for cancer patients with inoperable or recurrent tumors. This approach can be offered worldwide, including developing countries, due to its simplicity and safety, reaching those in need of effective treatment.
