About
Dental pulp stem cells (DPSC) can be isolated from wisdom teeth of healthy donors and patients, and offer a scalable source of human, neural crest-derived cells that can be consistently differentiated into DPSC-derived Schwann cells with mature glial features. This human platform can be used in controlled 2D and 3D settings to model peripheral neuropathies, including Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. Hence, we aim to support target validation and drug screening studies using readouts of Schwann cell phenotype and maturation, cellular stress, extracellular and axonal interactions, and disease-specific phenotypes.
