initiatives for Bio-Materials Behavior iBMB Srls

Heading to convergence of diagnostic imaging, assay data and biomathematics in neoadjuvant therapy field, iBMB Srls will perform computational prognoses of personal disease progression in breast cancer based on the mathematical modeling of the patient’s 3-dimensional (3-D) therapy outcome. This digital twin will empower the informed decisions on outcomes and optimal response to neoadjuvant therapy, for each patient at stake.

Our project aims to collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and implement computational models that can enhance their decision-making process and ultimately improve patient outcomes. Our software is designed to cast low-cost avatars in oncology care, evaluating in advance the dimensional evolution of breast cancer, requiring low maintenance effort. Its front-end is compatible with medical professionals.

Cooperation with the Oncological Hospital of the Basilicata Region (Italy) has brought good results leading to high expectations (Technology Readiness Level; TRL=6-7) in hepatocellular carcinoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Cooperation with University of Trieste and Cremona Hospital (Italy) has created credible avatars based on new Ki67/TILs computational metrics. At present, we can correctly predict the outcomes of neoadjuvant olaparib therapy (TRL=8). Studies on interaction between trastuzumab therapy and gut microbiota are underway in collaboration with Istituto Tumori IRCSS of Milan.
